Kitchen Renovations

An update on our kitchen/living room remodel.

Removed all the drywall.

Removed the walls in the living room looking down the hallway from the kitchen.

Cut all the 2x4s down to support the island countertop instead of rebuilding the wall support.

The cabinets are bought and have been temporarily put in place. Just need to install them.

Bagel and Schmeer

Every time I think of bagels and creamcheese I think of Miss Congeniality. "I forgot to thank Jesus for my bagel and schmeer."

I love Oklahoma Pastry Cloth. I used her recipe both for the a target="_blank" href="http://www.oklahomapastrycloth.com/blog/?p=4892">bagel and the cream cheese. I didn't have any walnuts so I used pecans instead. It's so yummy!

Baby clothes

These pants were so easy to whip up.

It took about an hour. I used this pattern from Made by Rae.

Welcome baby Easton

Baby Easton made his way in to the world today. He's such a cutie especially with the red hair.

I made this quilt

Thanks for holding it up Hannah.

From patterns on Moda Bakeshop. I love how cute the words turned out but I definitely need some practice on appliqué.

I used hairspray as a basting spray and used half the amount of safety pins and only 1 spot has a little tuck. Definitely going to do more research on it.

Step 1 Cutting

I have two projects I'm going to try to finish this week. Daniel's birthday is next week and I found a great tutorial at Obsessively Stitching for Angry Birds. He was obsessed with the game on his iPhone for a while.

I have all the pieces cut out. Now just to add the appliqué and put them together. Care has a different technique where you sew the appliques from the back then cut out the shapes. We'll see how it goes.

I am also working on the lattice quilt tutorial from From the Blue Chair. Daniel's cousin Megan's baby shower is next weekend, so the goal is to have it done by then.

Most of the triangles and strips are cut out. It will get me started and get a good feeling for the size of it.

Bread

I made bread today from Made's website. It turned out amazing!

Doesn't it look yummy! The one on top is the regular bread and the bottom is a cinnamon and sugar. According to my hubby, it sucks and he'll have to take it to work with him tomorrow.

It was nice to enjoy it after all the issues with the furnace. As of now they replaced the fan wheel, but it won't turn off. Apparently a relay went out and as old as our system is they have to rewire it. I'm so thankful for our fireplace. It keeps the house at 72+ with only using the blower not the heatalator.

I better put up the bread before the hubby eats it all!
